Alex Job Racing and Petersen Motorsports/ White Lightning Racing Experience Testing at Le Mans

LE MANS, France May 5, 2003 Fresh from a one-two victory at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March, Alex Job Racing and Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing was the second fastest car in the GT class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans preliminary testing session on Sunday at the Circuit de la Sarthe. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS timed at 4:11.316 in the team's first-ever appearance at Le Mans. No. 93 Westward Ho Casino/ MMPIE/PAWS/mail2web Porsche 911 GT3 RS was piloted by Emmanuel Collard of London, England; car owner Mike Petersen of Las Vegas, Nevada and Sascha Maassen of Raeren, Belgium. The team experienced a few glitches during the test session which began with a collision going into the high speed Porsche Curves. As a result, the team lost almost three hours of track time and was unable to use the qualifying Michelin tires for a fast lap and simply ran out of time. Despite the problems, the team was quickest during the morning session and the crew was able to fix the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and made the racing machine better than before they started the testing session. The unique team partnership of Alex Job Racing and Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing is a joint effort with members of each team both preparing and crewing the car for the world-famous endurance race on June 14 and 15. “We're happy to be here at Le Mans, it was a good day even though we had some problems and lost a lot of track time. We got behind schedule on the test and just ran out of time. Sascha did some great lap times and I know if we had a chance to put on our qualifying tires, we could have shaved some time off of our laps. It's nice to be fast, but this session is for testing things out and that's what we did. I'm extremely pleased that the crew was able to make the car better than it was before and now we've certainly broken it in! It's no longer a new car, that's for sure. I feel like we're in a really good position and I'm looking forward to coming back next month,” team owner Alex Job said of the test session. "We are very pleased with the new car. The gearing was perfect and the Porsche engine was strong. The Michelin tires were great and speed was no problem. We mainly worked on a comfortable 24-hour race setup. We tried different setups to gather data and have a better idea of what we want for race day. The team worked very well together and the Porsche engineers were a pleasure to work with," program manager Dale White said. The Alex Job Racing/Petersen Motorsport/White Lightning team has a busy schedule between now and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
