Jimmy Kite Looks To Close 2003 Sprint Car Season with Florida Win
STOCKBRIDGE, Ga., October 31, 2003 Four-time Indianapolis 500 starter Jimmy Kite will close out his 2003 race season with a third weekend behind the wheel of Tommy Gainey's #45 AmericanSpeedShow.com winged-sprint car. Kite has wheeled the red, black and flamed Gaerte-powered Stealth chassis twice before this fall in the United Sprint Car Series (USCS). This weekend's two events, Friday and Saturday night at Eastbay Speedway in Gibsonton, Florida, marks the end of the season for the series and the end of the season for the Stockbridge, Georgia resident. “The AmericanSpeedShow.com car has been real quick the last two weekends but we've just had some bad luck,” reviewed Kite. “We've been right there with the speed but we had a bleeder valve go on us one race, got hit in a couple, things like that. But, I'm really looking forward to going trick-or-treating this weekend at Eastbay. Tommy and I have always been quick together and when he asked me to come down here and run on dirt with these guys I thought it would be a lot of fun. AmericanSpeedShow.com heard about us doing it and wanted to be a part of the show also so, it all worked out really well for us to spend our fall racing in Florida. We've had some of the All Star guys racing here with us since their season closed so it's good competition. I'm having a lot of fun and I think we should be strong this weekend. Tommy has been wrenching on this car pretty hard the last few days so I think we'll have something for them.”Kite began his career racing quarter-midgets at the age of eight and worked his way up through mini-sprints, USAC midgets, sprint cars and Silver Crown cars to the Indy Racing League. He is a five-time national champion in various open-wheel series with countless victories. He has a career total of 23 Indy Racing IndyCar Series event starts and $1,505,565 in career IRL earnings. He has raced four times in the Indianapolis 500.For more on Jimmy Kite, please visit www.jimmykitefans.com. ###
