NayKid In The Northwest Local Comes to Portland With Viper

PUYALLUP, WASH., May 10, 2005 2004 Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) NorPac Divisional T1 Champion Cindi Lux (Aloha, Ore.) will make her first local start of 2005 this weekend. Lux, and fellow Northwesterner Scotty B. White (Puyallup, Wash.), will bring the No. 78 and No. 3, respectively, NayKid Racing KUMHO Tire/ Forgeline Wheels/ Moton Shocks Dodge Viper SRT10s to the Portland International Raceway (PIR) for the first time this season. The two have dominated SCCA T1 class competition in recent years racking-up six divisional titles. However, with the major switch to Dodge's V10-powered sports car this season, NayKid Racing knows that the program will suffer some teething and development pains in the early going. Entering their third race weekend of the season, NayKid looks forward to this weekend as a tune-up for one of the major events of the season, The Rose Cup, to be held next month at PIR. The duo of Lux and White, now in their third season together at NayKid Racing, debuted the street-based SRT10 racecars this season. While this weekend's two-event schedule is important for the season-long pursuit for championships, it also provides an exceptional testing opportunity. NayKid Racing has put added weight on the June 11- 12th Rose Cup races because of national prestige and local bragging rights that the event brings. Every lap that the Vipers can turn this weekend will prove beneficial to Fred Lux, crew chief for NayKid Racing through Lux Performance, LLC., as the NayKid team seeks the best setup for the two new cars. As the team develops the Viper SRT10 for the SCCA T1 class one of the few major sports car racing classes that the newest model of the Dodge Viper has not competed in it isn't going it alone. The team, which enjoys much local support from companies such as Nike, is working closely with KUMHO Tires to develop a V710 tire specifically for the Viper's large wheels. Further testing is also being done by new-for-2005 brake pad supplier Mintex. In fact, few pieces carry over from the 2004 campaign adding to the challenges that NayKid Racing will face in the coming months. While the on-track portion of the weekend promises to be exciting as always, NayKid is also looking forward to off-track activities. The team will be joined at PIR by special guest Martha Sleeper. Ms. Sleeper, a grandmother from Sandy, Ore., is a devoted motorsports fan that, due to commitments to family and community, has never attended a race in person. Sleeper will get the VIP-treatment as a member of NayKid Racing with an opportunity to spend time with drivers Lux and White. She will also take to the track in the passenger seat for a lap around the PIR road course. Quotes:Cindi Lux: “It will be exciting to show off our new T1 rides to the home crowd. There are a lot of people who are really looking forward to seeing how these things run. I have to admit, this development year with the new cars has been challenging. It may take us a little longer to get these new cars up to speed than I would like to admit. We, as a team, have been digging deep and working really hard to get to know these new SRT10's. The KUMHO's have been the backbone of our accomplishments and I am so thankful they are part of our program! This weekend will be fun racing in front of the local fans. Also, it will be a blast having Martha there at the track with us. We love to give back to the community and Martha has given so much of herself to her friends and neighbors that it is a perfect fit.”Scotty B. White: “There's a whole lotta people that have been looking forward to seeing these new Hot Rods, and there is no better place than Portland to debut our new graphics! We are struggling to get up to speed with the restrictions on the Vipers but we're having a ball with these V10 monsters. It's pretty dang cool having the chance to put a little something back in the community through one of our VIP Special Guest programs.” To learn more about NayKid Racing, please visit www.NayKidRacing.com.
