Jimmy Kite To Run IndyCar Demonstration Laps at Fontana NEXTEL Cup Race
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., August 31, 2005 Jimmy Kite, Stockbridge, Ga., has been asked to run three demonstration laps at California Speedway prior to Sunday's Sony HD 500 NEXTEL Cup event. The laps will give the diehard stock car fans at Fontana's two-mile oval a sense of what they can expect when the IRL IndyCar Series makes its appearance there on October 16. Kite, who pilots the No. 91 Ethanol/ Life Fitness Dallara-Toyota for Ethanol-Hemelgarn Racing in the IRL IndyCar Series, will be making his first appearance at the southern California D-shaped oval. However, he is familiar with running in front of NASCAR fans. The 29 year-old driver competed in four NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events earlier this season finishing as the highest-placing, or second highest placing, rookie in each event. Kite joined Ethanol-Hemelgarn Racing in May, replacing the injured Paul Dana (St. Louis), making his fifth Indianapolis 500 appearance. He has run nine IndyCar Series events thus far in 2005 earning a season-high tenth-place at Kentucky Speedway and $499,005 in that time. He currently sits 22nd in IndyCar Series driver standings. He has 32 career IndyCar starts on his resume. Kite will next race the No. 91 Ethanol entry at Chicagoland Speedway on September 11th.To learn more about Jimmy Kite, please visit www.JimmyKite.com.
