Petersen/ White Lightning Sebring Night Practice 2005 GT2 Winners Finish Days Activities with Strong Nighttime Laps
SEBRING, Fla., March 16, 2006 Petersen Motorsports/ White Lightning Racing completed a long day of preparations for Saturday's 54th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring with a successful one and a half hour practice in the darkness. Langenfeld, Germany's brother driving duo of Jrg and Tim Bergmeister and Nic Jnsson, a native of Sweden now living in Buford, Ga., each turned laps in the No. 31 MMPIE/ PAWS/ Michelin Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. All three drivers are required, by American Le Mans Series (ALMS) regulation, to turn a minimum of three laps of the 3.7-mile, Sebring International Raceway in the darkness. The three Petersen/ White Lightning drivers exceeded that amount with Jrg Bergmeister, the 2005 GT2 class winner of this event driving for Petersen/ White Lightning, turning the fourth quickest lap of the session with a two-minute, 5.031 seconds. Jnsson turned a 2:05.646 while Tim Bergmeister turned a 2:07.846. Earlier in the day, Jrg Bergmeister qualified the No. 31 fifth in the GT2 class for the ALMS season-opening 12 Hours of Sebring. His lap of 2:04.040 was good for 22nd overall. Prior to that, there was a one hour practice session inwhich Jrg turned a 2:04.046, the second quick time in that session.Quotes: Nic Jnsson, driver:about the car and session: “For me, this is the best the car has been all week. The car is, obviously, very quick but I have been adapting to the setup. I have gotten into a rhythm now. I am very, very pleased. I have two great teammates with Tim and Jrg and the team is fantastic. They have shown that here before at Sebring and winning the ALMS championship last year. I am very, very confident for the race. I can't wait till Saturday.”about driving at night here at Sebring: “There is a little bit of adapting to the darkness but it isn't that bad. You've been around here so many times that you know where the different bumps and different things are out there. It isn't that bad, actually. They have the light placement pretty good. They've done a great job on all of the critical spots; the braking zones, turn-in, apex. It is a very well lit-up track.”The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring can be seen live on SPEED Channel starting at 10:30 AM (ET), March 18th.
