Two-Time Le Mans GT2 Champions Petersen/ White Lightning Announce 24 Hour Plans

LAS VEGAS, Nev., May 12, 2006 � Official entrant Dale White (Bozeman, Montana, USA) announced today that Petersen Motorsports/ White Lightning Racing will return to take part in the 74th Annual 24 Heures Du Mans in June. The two-time Le Mans class-winning effort also confirmed marketing support from Krohn Racing for the Automobile Club De L'Ouest-sanctioned event. The 2005 American Le Mans Series (ALMS) GT2 Champions will be attempting their third Le Mans Grand Touring Two (LM GT2) victory in only their fourth attempt at the world's most famous sports car race. The No. 90 Krohn/ Petersen Motorsports/ White Lightning Michelin Porsche 911 GT3 RSR will be raced by J�rg Bergmeister (Langenfeld, Germany), Nic J�nsson (a native of Sweden currently living in Buford, Georgia, USA) and Tracy Krohn (Houston, Texas, USA) in the June 17-18 race.While solidly a Petersen Motorsports/ White Lightning Racing program, the combination allows the team to return to challenge for a third Le Mans title. Although the Las Vegas-based team had received an automatic entry for its class win at the 2005 Petit Le Mans, Petersen and White had decided not to attend Le Mans without the necessary budget to compete for the win. With the introduction of Krohn to the principals of Petersen/ White Lightning, through mutual driver Bergmeister, the two groups came to an agreement quickly to accept the entry for Le Mans. Petersen/ White Lightning will supply all the expertise and equipment for the Krohn-sponsored program. White will oversee the operation as he did the team's LM GT (now LM GT2) class victory in 2004 and second-place last year. Frank Funke (Wetter, Germany) will engineer the car while Dennis Chizma (Las Vegas, Nevada, USA) continues as Crew Chief of the all Petersen/ White Lightning crew. The Porsche 911 GT3 RSR will race on Michelin tires and have Porsche Motorsports support. The familiar and popular livery of the No. 90 will also continue with slight modifications made to recognize Krohn's marketing support.Petersen Motorsports/ White Lightning Racing has been one of the premier teams in international GT endurance racing in recent years. In all, they have won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice (2003 with Alex Job Racing and in 2004), the Rolex 24 At Daytona ('01), the 12 Hours of Sebring ('05), the Petit Le Mans ('05), the Monterey Sports Car Championships, a total of six American Le Mans Series (ALMS) GT2 races including a full 50% of the events in 2005, and the 2005 ALMS GT2 Team, Driver and IMSA Cup Championships. Prior to their involvement in sports car racing, the duo of Petersen and White combined for over 50 off-road racing truck victories and four consecutive class victories in both the Baja 1000 and Baja 500 (overall titles in 1995, '96 and '97).Petersen Motorsports/ White Lightning Racing will travel to France with the Krohn-sponsored car following the May 21st American Le Mans at Mid-Ohio. On June 4th the No. 90 Porsche will have a nine hour testing session available at the 8.6-mile Circuit de la Sarthe. Four official practice and qualifying sessions are scheduled for June 14 and 15 with the 24 Heures du Mans starting on June 17 at 5 PM local time.
