Notes:
• Drayson Racing will help commemorate and promote the first celebration of the United Kingdom’s Armed Forces Day while competing this weekend in the 24 Hours of Mans. To endorse the 27 June tribute honouring the men and women of the UK’s military forces – past, present and future – the No. 87 Drayson Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT2 carries the red, white and blue colours of the official artwork of Armed Forces Day on its doors, bonnet and bumper.
Further emphasising the support Britain’s motorsport community here in Le Mans has for the armed forces of the United Kingdom, Sharnbrook, Beds-based Showtrax International Limited has provided this decal work in gratitude to those defending democracy around the world.
Paul, Lord Drayson, owner and one of three British drivers of the Drayson Racing entry, was appointed to the Ministry of Defence as a Defence Minister earlier this week. This joins the position he has held for nearly a year as the Minister for Science and Innovation.
Paul Drayson: ““Every day, men and women of the Army, Navy and RAF risk their lives for the defence of our country. Armed Forces Day is a chance for the whole country to recognise their courage and professionalism, and that of the thousands of veterans who have played a vital role in securing our freedom both now and in the past. Events will be taking place right across the UK on Saturday 27th June and I wanted to take this opportunity to join the thousands of people who will be flying Armed Forces Day flags to honour our service personnel past, present and future.”
