Hey It's Good to be Back Home Again for Bryan Sellers

Ohio Native Back in Fall-Line BMW for GRAND-AM CTSCC at Mid-Ohio

LEXINGTON, Ohio, June 11, 2013 – If it feels like an eternity since the last GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC) race, you’re not alone. While the sports car support series ran its last race on April 20 at Road Atlanta, it has been even longer for Bryan Sellers. Other motorsport commitments kept the Centerville, Ohio-native, who now calls Braselton, Ga. home, from racing at Atlanta. His last start in the No. 46 Trim-Tex Drywall Products/BCKSTGR Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3 came April 6 at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama. Now that the stars are aligned, there is nowhere better for Sellers and the series to fall back into sync than the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the Diamond Cellar Classic in Lexington on June 15.

Sellers and co-driver Mark Boden (Winnetka, Ill.) have been strong contenders thus far in 2013 but have not yet locked-down a GS class podium finish. Twice this year, at the Circuit of the Americas and at Barber Motorsports Park, the team has looked on the verge of victory. Both times, driveline issues left them stranded within minutes of the conclusion of the race.

The 2.258-mile, 13-turn Mid-Ohio road course has been a favorite of Sellers his entire life and for good reason. Growing-up just outside of Dayton, Mid-Ohio was the nearest major motorsports facility to the aspiring kart racer. He often attended professional races at the track and dreamed of competing here. Once his own career was established in karting, then into formula cars, Sellers found great success at his “local” track. He used the circuit to launch championships in the Skip Barber Midwest Region (’99), Formula Ford Zetec (‘02) and USF2000 (’02) and in 2011, he won his first ALMS GT race at the track. He is hoping that magic will remain for Fall-Line’s first CTSCC race victory of 2013.

But it is not only the familiarity of Mid-Ohio that appeals to the 2012 ALMS “Most Popular Driver” award-winner. The 13 turns that make up the circuit also make Mid-Ohio one of the most technical tracks on the schedule. A blend of tight and sweeping corners, changing elevation and cambers, Mid-Ohio always provides a driver a unique challenge. Professionals like Sellers delight in the mental and physical precision required and that make the racing so intense at the track.

Timing and scoring of all sessions can be found at www.GRAND-AM.com beginning with the first CTSCC practice on Friday, June 14 at 8:40 a.m. (Eastern Time). The race itself is scheduled to take the green flag at 10:25 a.m. local time on June 15. The Diamond Cellar Classic will be broadcast live on www.SPEED2.com with a television broadcast on SPEED, Sunday, June 23 at 4 p.m. ET.

Quotes

Bryan Sellers:

On the weekend: “I am very excited to get back to Mid-Ohio with Trim-Tex and Fall-Line Motorsports. We had a very good car here last year and were very strong in the race. We were not able to get the result we wanted so we have some unfinished business to take care of this weekend.”

On Mid-Ohio: “I really enjoy the whole track. All the sections are very good. There is no place that I do not like. It is one of the things that makes Mid- Ohio special to me. It is a great place to race because you have to do everything right and be on your marks everywhere.”

On his ‘local’ knowledge: “I wish I had some unique information about the track. Unfortunately, growing up it wasn’t really possible to get a lot of laps on the track and you can only learn so much watching. So my knowledge at Mid-Ohio is very similar to many other people’s. It is just lucky that it is one of my favorite tracks and that I’ve had some success here in front of friends and family.”
