Lux Performance Tour Begins! Squad's Viper Show Makes Trans Am Debut

Cindi Lux and Steve Streimer Take National Stage in Homestead, Florida

Homestead, Florida, April 6, 2015 – A long awaited and much anticipated return to the national stage is on tap this weekend in Southern Florida. It has been three years since fans of Lux Performance Group have seen the Aloha, Oregon-based troop travel east of the Mississippi. But Sunday’s Trans Am Championship 100-miler at Homestead-Miami Speedway (HMS) will bring the spotlight shinning back brightly on the twin Dodge Viper ACR-Xs of road racing star Cindi Lux (Aloha, Oregon) and Steve Streimer (Sherwood, Oregon).

Earlier this year, Lux Performance Group, LLC, a leading motorsports and automotive preparation shop in the Northwest, announced it would be joining the country’s oldest road racing series for select events in 2015. The Fred Lux-engineered program brings the pair of Dodge’s track-going Viper ACR-X entries for 12-time road racing champion Cindi Lux and Streimer, who is making his first appearance in a nation-wide touring series. Up first on the limited schedule is the 2.21-mile, 15-turn road course that combines the HMS oval and an infield road course. The V10-powered American supercars will compete in the 38-car race comprised of TA, TA3A and TA3I classes on Sunday, April 12. The black No. 45 Lux Performance Group Viper of Lux and the red No. 42 of Streimer compete in the performance road car-based TA3I category. The class pits traditional American muscle against European exotics in a modified road car configuration on Hoosier Tire racing slicks. Further proving the revived series’ rapid growth, this will be the largest field, 10 cars, in the history of the class.

On track action will begin Thursday, April 9 with multiple test sessions for the Trans Am cars followed by practice and qualifying on Friday. These laps will be critical as this will be the first time that the team or Lux and Streimer as drivers, will ever see the track. The HMS course is high-speed utilizing large portions of the front and back straights of the oval and two infield straights linked by a combination of left and right turns. Sunday’s race is scheduled for 45 laps (102.15-miles) or 75-minutes – whichever comes first – and will take the green flag at 2:45 p.m. Eastern Time.

Quotes

Fred Lux, Lux Performance Group Team Principal: “Going into a new series is always nerve racking. Just want to make sure we have everything ready to go. But having two rookie drivers to watch over should be entertaining.”

Cindi Lux: “There will be a lot of firsts next weekend: new track, new cars and new series. So needless to say, we are just going down to learn a lot about everything and get our feet wet. Plus I am a rookie too!! How do you like that? I think it’s great and kind of gets me fired up even more. It’s been a few years in motorsports that a sanctioning body has labeled me as a ‘rookie. Two rookie drivers coming out from our tent… poor Fred.”

Steve Streimer : “I can't think of a better way to start the 2015 season than having a Viper prepared by the Lux Performance Group. I am looking forward to running side-by-side with my coach and teammate Cindi Lux! Running at Homestead with the TA cars is going to call for some serious heads-up racing. The speed differential between the TA cars and the TA3 cars around the oval ought to be a real eye opener.”
